Painting demo and painting workshop at NEMS, Pune
Artist and art teacher Chitra Vaidya conducted watercolour painting demonstration and painting workshop for children of NEMS, Pune. This painting workshop and watercolor painting demo was organised by Khula Aasmaan.
What is Khula Aasmaan
Khula Aasmaan is a platform for creative expression by children. Apart from organising the ongoing art contest, it creates content in the form of articles and videos for children, parents and teachers. It organizes workshops for school students and art teachers.
Milind Sathe explained the concept of Khula Aasmaan, made a short presentation and displayed pictures of medal winning artworks by children from Khula Aasmaan contests. This was more than enough to inspire the students.
Painting workshop for children
Two workshops were conducted, one for students and one for art teachers. Around 300 students participated in this workshop. Students were very enthusiastic and curious about workshop. It is always challenging for a teacher to keep students interested in the activity happening in that session.
Chitra Vaidya discussed about different techniques of painting such as strokes with Chinese goat hair pointed brush, one stroke painting technique using flat brush and how to apply two colours together with flat brush. She demonstrated few strokes of bamboo and flowers. Children enjoyed watching this. Chitra Vaidya also introduced the new technique of finger painting. This technique does not require any kind of brushes but the paint is applied with fingers. Chitra Vaidya gave a wonderful demonstration of Himalayan mountain scape using her fingers and acrylic paints on paper. This was really inspiring to the students.
After this session, students were encouraged to paint in their choice of medium and subject. Each of this painting created by students was considered as an entry to Khula Aasmaan contest.
Workshop for Art Teachers
This workshop was followed by another workshop for art teachers, which was mainly conducted by Milind Sathe. It was an interactive workshop with discussion about new ideas, teaching methodologies and exchange of views. Art on Postcard by Khula Aasmaan was introduced in this session to teachers and they happily agreed to work on this project in their schools.» more on painting demo and painting workshop by Chitra Vaidya
