Judging at Malhar - 2015 at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai

The annual festival “Malhar” organised by St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai is a well known and highly visible college festival. This year I was invited to be a judge for the art event they had organised as part of Malhar festival.

St. Xavier’s College, founded in 1869, is built in Indo-Gothic style of architecture. It is a prominent heritage structure in South Mumbai. When I reached the gate, I could feel the energy of the young students out there. The enthusiasm of the students was palpable in all their activities such as painting, singing, music, dance and more.. It is through events and forums like these that the young students who are so energetic and creative get an opportunity to express themselves in a positive way. Such festivals also get youth from different colleges together in a spirit of friendship cutting across all barriers and that should go a long way in shaping their values for future career and life.

This beautiful time spent at Malhar - 2015 reminded me of my college days at Sir. J. J. School of Art where I studied fine art in 1980s.
